The president addressed participants and guests of the memorial ceremony marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by the Red Army.
He thanked those “who remain committed to preserving historical truth and combating revival of neo-Nazism, contributing to this large-scale and important work out of a sense of duty.” Putin emphasized the special significance of this effort in the year marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The president also expressed hope for the continued multifaceted activities of the Russian Jewish community, which organizes traditional memorial events promoting the values of humanism, harmony, and civil peace.
