A new drone detection and suppression system Sfera was successfully tested during large-scale urban events, Izvestia wrote on January 16, citing the Russian state defense corporation Rostec.
According to the report, the Sfera system, developed by Rostec, can shield areas spanning several square kilometers from drone attacks.
The system has already proven effective in the zone of Russia’s special military operation. Equipment mounted on vehicles neutralized over 10 enemy combat drones, as confirmed by entries in combat operation logs.
Developers stated that Sfera’s modular design allows its configuration to be tailored to specific objectives and tasks. This means the system can be customized for each site based on terrain type, area size, and the mission at hand.
Earlier, The Times reported that Russia’s electronic warfare systems have rendered Kiev’s attempts to use GPS guidance for missiles ineffective.
