The Russian Armed Forces liberated 189 towns and villages in 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 16 at a board meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Putin emphasized that Russia had liberated 189 towns and villages as part of the special operation.
The president called the current year significant in the context of achieving the goals of the special operation. The politician emphasized that the Russian army confidently controls the strategic initiative on the entire contact line.
At the meeting of the Russian Defence Ministry Board, Putin declared a minute of silence in memory of the heroes who died during the special operation. He urged to remember the courage and feat of the country’s defenders and to show attention and care to their families.
Supporting the relatives of the soldiers is an important part of the national memory, Putin emphasized.
At the same time, the president noted that the military and political situation in the world remains complicated and unstable.
