The world went mad because it lost the dream of the new Man and a new humanism, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on November 15 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.
“The world is going insane,” the philosopher stressed. He explained that, although the communists’ words about the ascension of Man were really vague, even the Brezhnev period still offered some hope that these words will be said.
“I remember my mother was a co-author of a collective monograph ‘Literature and the New Man,’ doesn’t that mean there was something behind it?” Kurginyan notes.
And in the earlier Soviet period there was a real dream about the greatness of the new Man, about the humanistic outlook, and it was believed that the bourgeois humanism was destroyed by World War One, and a new humanism would replace it, the philosopher stressed.
Kurginyan reminded what great authors like Romain Rolland, Henri Barbusse, George Bernard Shaw, Herbert Wells spoke about it, “Everyone said, this is it, the new humanism.”
“Now it has been renamed,” the philosopher indicated. Sergey Kurginyan reminded the phrase of philosopher Aleksandr Zinovyev who said, “We aimed at communism but we hit Russia.”
“It sounds somewhat like the verses of a sub-criminal song, ‘Rabinovich shot – bang! – and he missed hitting me a little.’ It must be a strange shooter if he aims at communism but hits Russia,” the political scientist commented.
Sergey Kurginyan also reminded a statement by Pope John Paul II, whom he called the smartest one and hating Russia the most. This leader of the Catholic Church said after the collapse of the USSR, “We aimed at communism, and we created a civilization of death on the ruins of communism.”
“It is not being created, and has already been created,” Kurginyan stressed. He said that the civilization of death already exists, and we need to find a way to escape from it and a place where to escape.
“It has already been created, the dehumanization has been successfully made, and the concentration of this filth was the so-called democratoids from the US Democratic Party, who have already decided that humanism is over, the project of Man is over, that all that is over, there are no ideals anymore, and history is over,” the political scientist said.
Sergey Kurginyan quoted Western philosopher Francis Fukuyama’s statement, “Messiah did not come, and this is already the end of history.” The political scientist noted that just recently, in the context of Donald Trump’s victory and the US presidential elections, Fukuyama “speaks about what to do and how to struggle for democracy through the escalation of military violence as there are no other options.”
