Venezuelan president: Marxism cannot be a dogma

12.05.2024, Venezuela.

Marxism has nothing to do with what some have tried to attribute to it in the past, understanding it as a dogma, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said in a conversation with Brazilian political scientist Diego Ruzzarin, Venezuela News reported on May 11.

Maduro noted that one of Marx’s greatest achievements was his understanding of the laws of contradiction in the social world. “The first law of contradictions that man learned as a child was the unity and struggle of opposites, that is, opposites that are connected and repelled from each other. And this contradiction generates the power of development,” the Venezuelan leader said.

He emphasized that Marxism cannot be a dogma. “Marxism is the study of a concrete reality with specific solutions based on the understanding of dialectics,” Maduro said. According to him, we are dealing with scientific knowledge derived from reality.
