Russian Defense Ministry: The Ukrainian armed forces hit Belgorod with Tochka-U missiles, Vampire and Olkha MLRSs

The Ukrainian army used Tochka-U missiles, RM-70 Vampire and Olkha MLRS shells to strike residential districts of Belgorod, according to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on May 12.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the terrorist attack on residential areas of the city was carried out by the AFU around 11:40.

At the same time, air defense systems shot down six missiles of the Tochka-U tactical missile system, four rockets of the Vampire multiple launch rocket system and two rockets of the Olkha multiple launch rocket system.

Fragments of one of the shot down missiles “Tochka-U” hit a residential house in Belgorod, the agency said.

Earlier, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported about Ukraine’s massive shelling of the city and the region, in which a shell hit a multi-storey apartment building on Kharkov Hill with the subsequent partial collapse of the building.

The roof structure that survived the collapse of the entranceway was wobbling, but rescuers were removing the rubble despite the risk of its collapse. The roof collapsed on them, media reported.

According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, 10 adults and two children were rescued from under the rubble. Russia’s Investigative Committee said the shelling killed a woman and injured 29 others.
