The presence of Western mercenaries in Ukraine has long been no secret, but so far they are fighting there unofficially, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 581.
In early April, prominent military theorist Edward Luttwak said that France, Britain and Scandinavian countries planned to send their military special forces and support personnel to Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy said he would like to publicly call on Western partners to send their troops, but he cannot do so because Russia will prevent this in every possible way. At the same time, he noted that Ukraine already has “voluntary units” of people “with different citizenship,” who are fighting for Ukraine.
“It is no secret that Western mercenaries have been fighting in Ukraine for a long time and in large numbers. But they do this so far unofficially,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
