The situation around Covid vaccination demonstrated that freedom of speech has collapsed, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on March 22 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.
Kurginyan reminded how the Covid vaccination campaign took place when those who doubted that this procedure was necessary were to be persuaded into it.
“Various people talked on the TV saying that anyone who refused to do what they believed was necessary were idiots, barbarians, monsters,” the political scientist said.
According to the leader of Essence of Time, the right to discussion exists since classical times, and it “has deepest roots in the most fundamental basis of what we call this Western democratic society.” However, the vaccination campaign canceled this right.
“Certain position becomes immediately demonized, and its supporter faces problems with his job, money, nationality, and anything else,” the political scientist explained.
Besides, those who demonize the opponents of vaccination cannot refer to science as it has split on this issue, the expert stressed. However, this did not stop supporters of vaccination from silencing other opinions regardless of the status of the opponents.
“Nobel prize winners were silenced and removed from the respectable elite. Directors of institutes, academicians, whoever else were silenced. Who did that? What kind of a strange actor is that who can carry out repressive functions against what has always been your private territory?” Kurginyan wondered.
