Kurginyan: Classical capitalism does not exist anymore

07.04.2024, Moscow.

The banking sector in the West is transforming into a fiscal one, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on March 16 on the program Conversation with a Sage.

He indicated that the principles of capitalism, which were always at least declared, are no longer observed in the West.

Is an organic slow transformation keeping the object’s fundamental properties taking place? Or is it a tremendously different object?” Sergey Kurginyan asked.

The political scientist noted that now a question arises what kind of a banking sector we have to deal with. He also indicated that banks are alleged to remain banks, they accept money and perform some operations with it.

But actually they are now fiscal authorities operating in a mode of maybe not yet abuse but at least hidden governance and control by certain actors, which say, ‘This is allowed, this is not, yes to this, no to that.’ And this has nothing to do with the fact that this is supposed to be your money,” Kurginyan explained.

He reminded about the arrest of accounts in Cyprus in 2013. This is when, according to the political scientist, a situation formed where it is banks that now own the money, but not depositors.

If the sacred right to private property, good or bad, had been protected as a cornerstone of the classical bourgeois society (let us not discuss whether it is good or bad, it is what it is), then the whole world would have expressed indignation,” Kurginyan explained.

According to the political scientist, if a reaction of the international community had followed, the government of Cyprus would have not dared to make such a precedent.

No one paid attention to this. But we know that the West can pay attention even to minor issues when it needs. But in this case something fundamental happened, in terms of precedent, but no one cares,” Kurginyan noted.

He indicated that the option of arresting the Russian assets is being discussed, which again flies in the face of the right to private property.

For what reason can you arrest them? On what ground? Because the state pursues certain policy. And when India and Pakistan began a war, did that mean that Indian or Pakistani money had to be arrested? Is this something to be done in any war? And what about the US carrying out its operations in Vietnam?” Kurginyan said.

The political scientist indicated that such a discriminative use of this right because someone does not like the policy of the country whose money are to be seized results in a world where private property does not exist anymore. And when it does not exist, capitalism in its classical form cannot exist either.
