The US authorities are actively engaging more and more allies in the anti-China front to weaken China, the Global Times reported on March 31.
Earlier, Western media reported that Japan may join military patrols in the South China Sea carried out by the US and the Philippines.
“Japan’s decision to join the maneuvers is a typical example of the US trying to recruit more allies in a very sensitive and conflict zone to absorb allies’ resources and weaken China,” said Li Haidong, a professor at China Foreign University.
He also pointed out that US allies and partners, including Japan and the Philippines, should realize that the US never listens to the demands of its allies, but rather exploits the disagreements between its allies and China to achieve an outcome that benefits the US.
“From Washington’s strategic point of view, whether it is the Philippines or Japan, they are all pawns from which the US can benefit,” Lee pointed out.
