The capacity of the Mariupol seaport will grow from the current 3.4 million tons to 4.8 million tons per year by the end of 2025, the press service of Russia’s Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport said on March 25, the Donetsk News Agency (DAN) informed.
The press service said that the Mariupol seaport’s capacity should increase by 1.4 million tons from 2023 to 2025, bringing it to 4.8 million tons by the end of 2025.
According to the press service, to achieve this result it is planned to repair the port infrastructure and dredging works. The port capacity growth plan is coordinated with the program of social and economic development of the city and its surroundings.
Earlier, it was reported that more than 40 objects of the Mariupol seaport will undergo necessary repairs in 2024. Currently, the port’s electrical substation and warehouse roof are being repaired.
In February 2024, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev reported that the cargo handling capacity of the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk would be increased to 5.9 million tons per year.
