The West, represented by the United States and United Kingdom, is persuading other G7 countries to appoint a “special envoy” in Ukraine, the Russian Military Intelligence Service (SVR) said on February 12, citing the words of the agency’s director, Sergey Naryshkin.
According to the SVR director, the West continues to strengthen mechanisms of direct external control over the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. It is assumed that the “special envoy” will have constant access to President Zelensky and be aware of all his plans. In addition, the “special envoy” will block the Ukrainian leadership’s actions that are not acceptable to the West and steps that are not agreed with Washington and London, “proposing instead correct, from the point of view of the Anglo-Saxons, solutions”.
The SVR also noted that the idea with the appointment of a “special envoy” in Ukraine will not lead to the desired results. “Another insulting attempt of the West to strengthen the enslavement of the Ukrainian people brotherly to us cannot but cause concern. At the same time, there is a high probability that the realization of the idea with the appointment of a ‘special envoy’ in Ukraine will not lead to the results desired by the USA and UK,” the SVR director added.
According to the SVR, the role of the West’s “special envoy” in Ukraine is claimed by a wide range of Russophobic Western politicians, among whom the current NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stands out the most. “After the end of his current mandate in Brussels, he would like to go to maintain order in Kiev,” the agency added.
The intelligence service also noted that the appointment of a “special envoy” in Ukraine is due to the difficult situation of the Ukrainian armed units on the front, difficulties in carrying out mobilization and weakening military aid from the West. In addition, many Ukrainians have begun to realize the inevitability of Moscow achieving the goals of the special military operation, the report reads.
