An academy of the Russian Academy of Sciences developed new materials, allowing the creation of unique body armor for the Russian military, RIA Novosti wrote on February 10.
“It was necessary to solve the issue of tactical vests very quickly. Using the latest achievements in the field of materials science, scientists have made new materials that have minimal weight and maximum armor protection indicators. This is also an impressive success,” the Russian Academy of Sciences President Gennady Krasnikov said.
According to the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences, there is not a single area of defense and security that does not involve academic scientists.
“Among the general designers, technologists and heads of priority scientific areas for the military-industrial complex, half are members of our Academy of Sciences,” Krasnikov added.
