Developers from the Vysokotchnye Kompleksy holding company are preparing to send to the zone of Russia’s special military operation the newest anti-materiel rifle MTs-572 Astarta, which has already been nicknamed the “killer” of the US Barrett rifle due to its high accuracy and power, the company’s press service informed on February 7.
Currently, the Russian rifle is undergoing final tests, including verification of its performance in various conditions, as well as design adjustments to improve its ergonomics.
Earlier, presented at the Army-2023 forum, the Astarta rifle attracted the attention of specialists with its outstanding characteristics. According to the statements of Vitaly Bulgakov, representative of the holding company, the MTs-572 demonstrated four times greater accuracy than the US Barrett in comparative tests, allowing to put five bullets in a circle with a diameter of only 1.5 centimeters from a distance of 100 meters.
This result underscores the rifle’s high potential to hit both lightly armored vehicles and enemy structures, as well as traditional sniper tasks.
The serial production of the Mts-572, as it was announced earlier, may start in the coming months, which will allow to significantly strengthen sniper units in the zone of Russia’s special military operation. The Astarta rifle not only demonstrates impressive tactical and technical characteristics, but also meets the latest ergonomic requirements, providing comfort and convenience for the shooter in extreme conditions.
