A Russian UAV operator assisted a Ukrainian fighter in entering territory under Russia’s control, RIA Novosti informed on February 1, citing a unit commander of the 150th Guards Division of the Army Group Yug with the call sign “Starshiy.”
The operator pointed the fighter in the direction of movement through the minefield, he dropped his weapon and safely surrendered.
“Recently there was a case: we took one of them out with a bird [UAV], he walked under our bird, he dropped his weapon, we took him out and captured him,” said Starshiy.
The drone operator guided a Ukrainian soldier to the paths that bypassed the Ukraine’s mine barriers. Starshiy believes that prisoners are treated worse in Ukraine than in Russia. The case of the downed airplane in the Belgorod region confirms this.
The military emphasized that at the moment the Ukrainian armed units are using cluster munitions, mainly using artillery, while small arms battles are practically non-existent.
