Has Russia changed its tactics in Ukraine? Opinion

30.01.2024, Moscow.

Russia switched from attacking Ukraine’s energy grid to attacking military facilities and industries, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, Issue 570.

The Financial Times wrote that the scale and complexity of Russia’s recent airstrikes against Ukraine differed from last winter’s attacks. The main targets from December 20 to January 2 were mostly Ukrainian defense companies, not the energy grid.

The newspaper also points out that Russia started using new methods of attacking Ukrainian facilities to overcome air defenses. It uses drones, subsonic cruise missiles and supersonic ballistic missiles.

“So, Russia has changed tactics, moving from attacks on energy infrastructure facilities to the destruction of military facilities and production facilities,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
