Prices for ammunition for the Ukrainian armed units have increased about 5-10 times since winter 2022, Swedish Chief of Defence Staff Michael Claesson said, Sveriges Radio wrote on January 10.
“The price of ammunition needed for military operations in Ukraine increased 5-10 times compared to what it was before the conflict started,” he said.
Claesson noted that Europe’s massive rearmament and supplies to Ukraine led to an ammunition shortage, which caused a sharp rise in price.
In the spring of 2023, EU promised to deliver one million shells to Ukraine for a year. By the end of November, only 300,000 shells had been delivered.
Kiev has repeatedly said that the Ukrainian armed units are in dire need of ammunition and drones.
