Scholz: Germany should prepare for long-term aid to Kiev

09.12.2023, Berlin.

Germany should prepare to provide aid to Kiev for a long time. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this on December 9 at a party conference in Berlin, NTV informed.

“We should be prepared for this war [in Ukraine] can go on for a very long time,” Scholz said.

He emphasized, however, that Germany should be ready to increase its aid to the Ukrainian regime if other countries “weaken” in their resoluteness.

“This war probably isn’t going to end soon, so it’s important that we can do what needs to be done for a long time,” Scholz added.

The German chancellor noted that the consequences of the Ukrainian conflict affected not only Ukraine and Russia, but also affected the German state. In particular, it resulted in higher energy prices, which became a “serious financial problem” for Germany.
