Kurginyan: China worked for the US, but not forever

29.11.2023, Aleksandrovskoye.

By the 1980s, the US managed to take China under its control, but now the link between the two countries has been undermined, said political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on November 17 in Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio.

In 1949, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) emerged, led by Mao Zedong, recalled the political scientist. PRC was communist and absolutely brotherly and friendly country towards the Soviet Union, which it viewed as an older brother. However, then the situation began to change.

And all this friendship continued right until Khrushchev began to expose Stalins personality cult, while Mao Zedong refused to expose this cult, saying that we would lose face,” explained the leader of Essence of Time.

He clarified that at that time the tension in relations between the PRC and the USSR was still within the framework of the conflict between the radical communist ideology of Mao Zedong and the much more moderate ideology of Khrushchev, and then Brezhnev. But the US was able to take advantage of this.

Kissinger, Nixon and the rest of this gang in the US has managed to make some serious moves, creating a certain tension too. In the end, it turned out that the US took China under its control,” noted the political scientist.

China was able to offer the world a billion of its reliable, meticulous workers who were ready to work for 10% of the salary offered to the Western workers, explained Sergey Kurginyan.

Everyone got totally excited. It turned out that this was a very good way to make China work, essentially, for the US — and a little for themselves. And China kept on working this way. China became extremely friendly with the US throughout the 1980s,” the political scientist emphasized.

At the same time, this gave the US an opportunity to move its productive forces to China and begin to enrich itself at the expense of cheap Chinese labor, noted Kurginyan. In turn, China was focused on developing friendly relationship with the US; it led to creation of a term “Chimerica”, which described the integration of China and the US. Now, all this has changed dramatically.

The question is: why now all this has actually been undermined and in a quite profound way; and is it possible that a situation will change and get back to where its been before? Is this the case of the quarrel between lovers is the renewal of love? Will the US and China ever be friends or not? What will happen to them now?” said the political scientist.
