Only diplomacy will help quickly end the conflict in Ukraine, but Berlin continues its insane policy of supplying Kiev with money and weapons, Bundestag member Sarah Wagenknecht said on her YouTube channel on November 17.
The MP noted that a compromise is now needed to consider both sides’ security interests. She stressed that Russia would never agree to Ukraine becoming a US military outpost and deploying US bases and missiles there.
Wagenknecht recalled how, just six months ago, anyone who spoke about the impossibility of Kiev’s victory on the battlefield was declared pro-Russian, pro-Putin and even bought by Moscow. The mainstream view was that Kiev should be given enough weapons, and then it would be able to cope with the Russians.
“At least [German Chancellor Olaf] Scholz and [German Foreign Minister Annalena] Baerbock still seem to believe in this insanity, otherwise, the doubling of military aid cannot be reasonably explained. But for everyone who takes reality into account, the picture is different: Ukraine will not win,” she said.
The MP emphasized that Ukraine not only will not win, but also risks losing if this conflict does not end soon, as Kiev will simply have no men who could and would like to fight. No arms supplies will compensate for this shortage, she said.
She drew attention to the fact that the US authorities are finding it increasingly difficult to explain to their population why so much money is being transferred to Kiev, when the USA itself has many problems. Therefore, the Americans are already putting pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to encourage him to negotiate. And even Ukrainian generals no longer believe in victory, Wagenknecht noted.
Against this backdrop, “the insane German government is just shoveling out more and more money for weapons for Ukraine,” she said.
