Fighters of the Shiite movement Islamic Resistance of Iraq fired at least 15 missiles at a US military base near the al-Omar oil field in northeastern Syria on the night of November 9, Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen reported.

The movement claimed responsibility for the missile strike. The TV channel last night also reported a missile attack on a US base near the Koniko field in northeastern Syria. According to journalists, this was a response to the shelling of the eastern neighborhoods of the city of Deir ez-Zor by the US military.

Al Mayadeen also reported on the fighting last night in Deir ez-Zor province between the Syrian government army and US forces backed by Kurdish formations of the Syrian Democratic Forces. According to the channel, the fighting was fierce, including using heavy weapons.

The United States has maintained military bases on Syrian territory near several oil fields. Damascus has repeatedly called it an occupation and theft of resources.
