19.09.2023, Baku.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry launched “anti-terrorist measures of local character” in Nagorno-Karabakh, the agency’s press service said on September 19.

“Antiterrorist measures of local character have been launched in the region,” the statement reads.

The operation’s goals include ensuring the provisions of the trilateral statement made by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 9, 2020.

The statement referred to the suppression of provocations in the Nagorno-Karabakh economic region, as well as the disarmament and withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the territory, which Baku considers its own.

The measures will have to neutralize the military structure of the territory and ensure the safety of civilians, as well as construction workers involved in reconstruction work and Azerbaijani military.

In addition, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry declares the need to restore constitutional order in these territories.
