The head of the Russian Defense Ministry Sergey Shoigu took part in the solemn events in Pyongyang dedicated to the victory of the Korean people in the Patriotic War of Liberation of 1950-1953, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry wrote on July 28.
According to the statement, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry congratulated the participants of the meeting on the holiday and read a congratulatory message on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The solemn event was held at the Pyongyang Sports Palace under the leadership of Kim Jong-un, Chairman of State Affairs of North Korea.
It is reported that the meeting was followed by a gala reception in honor of the Russian military delegation.
“A military parade was also held on Kim Il Sung Square in the centre of Pyongyang. The parade included soldiers of the Korean People’s Army in historical uniforms of the war times, T-34 tanks, vehicles of 1950-1953, parade formations of all kinds and branches of the Korean People’s Army troops and a mechanised column with the latest weapons and military hardware,” the statement reads.
On July 25, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the upcoming visit of the minister Sergei Shoigu to North Korea to strengthen military ties between the countries.
