The recognition of the existence of a sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the UK over the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands at the EU-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) summit is a historic diplomatic victory, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez said on July 20.
“The Malvinas Islands are a national cause. We have taken another step, a historic diplomatic victory: a whole nation led #MalvinasIslands to the declaration of two regions,” the president emphasized on his Twitter account.
The EU and CELAC agreed to include a paragraph on the Malvinas question in the interregional declaration.
