Flooding brings Ukrainian mines to the Kherson region

12.07.2023, Kherson.

Flooding brought a large number of mines from the minefields of the Ukrainian armed units to the left-bank Kherson region due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, a Russian tank regiment engineer with the call sign Tsent said, RIA Novosti informed on July 12.

The flood brought “a lot of things” to the town of Alyoshki, including mines, the military engineer said. The task now is to “find and neutralize everything.”

In the Poselok area, mines are everywhere. They are covered in silt, preventing them from being detected. There are very few locals left in the town and no electricity.

The engineer added that there is still a danger of shelling, so even moving around the city has to be “as quiet, stealthy and calm as possible.”

On June 6, the Ukrainian armed units damaged the Kakhovka HPP and caused an uncontrolled discharge of water. A number of towns and villages were completely flooded and an ecological disaster occurred.
