Kurginyan discusses the anthem of the Wagner PMC: Orthodoxy or the world of the Valkyries?

06.07.2023, Moscow.

The anthem of the Wagner PMC, in which Chimeras, Lucifer, the Valkyries, Valhalla , and God’s army co-exist, poses a question in what kind of a world Russia lives, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on June 30 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.

The political scientist stressed that as long as the Wagner PMC was heroically fighting he refrained from questioning the anthem of the PMC. Kurginyan reminded that he followed a similar policy towards Igor Strelkov in 2014; as long as he defended Slavyansk, Kurginyan did not comment his actions, but when Strelkov shamefully fled, he had “to strike him without consulting anyone at all.”

He reminded that the Wagner PMC did not flee from anywhere. Also, he noted that they took Artyomovsk, they are fighting, so they have a really great record.

However, after the mutiny attempt that the Wagner fighters led by Evgeny Prigozhin made, the philosopher finds it appropriate to discuss the content of their anthem.

Why do these ‘war orchestra soldiers’ have to fight in a place where ‘among screams of Chimeras Lucifer the conductor directs the flight of the Valkyries‘?” Kurginyan asked. And he added, “Why the hell does Lucifer direct the Valkyries? What kind of a madness is that? Wodan is the one who directs the Valkyries. So you took this Nordic mysticism and combined it with the Valhalla etc.? Then please unfold it in full!

When “Lucifer the conductor” is supplemented with the fact that all of them are Orthodox it becomes absolutely strange, Kurginyan said.

Referring to the PMC’s name, the philosopher noted that he loves Richard Wagner’s music, that Wagner was a Christian, and that Friedrich Nietzsche reproached the young composer exactly for being too Christian.

The analyst pointed out that the idea of the PMC’s anthem was taken from the film Apocalypse Now by Francis Coppola, in which a mad US colonel destroys a Vietnamese village while playing Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries.

So do we live in a conservative Orthodox world or in another kind of a world? the leader of the Essence of Time movement wonders.
