Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: Russian instructors will continue their work in the CAR

26.06.2023, Moscow.

Russian servicemen will continue their work in the Central African Republic (CAR), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with RT on June 26.

Several hundred servicemen are working, say, in the CAR as instructors, and this work, of course, will continue,” Lavrov said.

In addition to the CAR, servicemen from Russia will remain as instructors in Mali. The leaders of the countries have asked Moscow to do so.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the panic news in the US public media, which supposedly covered Africa after the events in Russia on June 24. Lavrov reminded who they were working for and questioned the adequacy of the information being relayed.

Military instructors from Russia are in the CAR at the invitation of the authorities and with the awareness of the UN Security Council. As of February 2022, their number was more than 1,100.
