Kremlin names purpose of Ukraine’s sabotage: to deprive Crimea of water

One of the goals of Ukraine’s sabotage at the Kakhovskaya HPP is to deprive Crimea of water, the water supply to the North Crimean canal is being reduced, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on 6 June.

According to him, the Kakhovskaya HPP is clearly a deliberate sabotage by Ukraine. Russia strongly denies accusations of involvement in the strike.

Kiev’s sabotage could have very serious consequences for several tens of thousands of residents of the region.

One of the goals of Ukraine’s sabotage at the Kakhovskaya HPP is to deprive Crimea of water, the water supply to the North Crimean Canal is being reduced. However, Peskov clarified, “there is a certain ‘safety reserve’ for the water supply of Crimea.

Crimea has been taking energetic steps to ensure a guaranteed water supply even without the North Crimean Canal, there are some practices,” Peskov said.
