Russian Ministry of Defense: Kharkov State Zooveterinary Academy was involved in US projects

26.05.2023, Moscow.

The Russian military found and studied documents confirming the work of the Kharkov State Zooveterinary Academy employees on US biological projects in the Askania Nova Nature Reserve in the Kherson region. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, Commander of the Russian NBC Protection Troops, said at a briefing on May 26.

“The documents found in the veterinary laboratory of the reserve confirm the involvement of the Kharkov State Zooveterinary Academy in conducting work within the framework of the UP-8 and P-444 US projects and preparations for the Flu-Fly-Way project,” Kirillov told reporters.

He said that the objective of the research was to identify the criteria under which the transmission processes of viruses that create risks for food security (avian influenza) can get out of epidemiological control and become uncontrollable.

Kirillov also pointed out that the US Department of Defense commissioned these studies.

Igor Kirillov said that the USA is looking for targets for military application of biotechnologies. The Pentagon plans to spend about $90 billion on such programs in five years. Washington intends to strengthen control over the biological situation on the whole planet. The USA also reserves the right to conduct “dual-use” research outside the country’s territory.
