The Russian military shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter using the Igla surface-to-air missile system, head of the press center of the Zapad military grouping Sergey Zybinsky said, RIA Novosti informed on May 24.
“In the course of combat operations in the Kupyansk direction, the anti-aircraft defense forces of the Zapad Group of Forces shot down an enemy Mi-8 helicopter near Lozovaya,” Zybinsky said.
He also said that a Ukrainian UAV was destroyed by a Pantsir-S antiaircraft system near the village of Solomennoye. The military eliminated a Ukrainian point from which they were conducting surveillance, five dugouts, as well as an AN/TPQ-50 counterbattery radar.
The 14th Independent Mechanized Brigade and 105th Territorial Defense Brigade suffered casualties near Masyutovka.
