Western sanctions against Russia have not worked, but that does not mean there are no problems in the Russian economy. It is necessary to solve them urgently and thoroughly, according to summaries from the war theater of the Essence of Time newspaper No. 533.
According to the World Bank and national statistical services, Russia is in the top 10 largest economies in the world in 2022 for the first time since 2014. It is in eighth place.
At the same time, Russia is under the most extensive sanctions in the history of the world. The EU and the US began developing them back in November 2021.
“It’s called ‘sanctions work,’ but it’s not all rosy. There are plenty of problems in the economy, and the current situation requires addressing them urgently and thoroughly,” says the editorial in the Essence of Time newspaper.
