Kurginyan: Russia’s current situation is worse than in the cold war era

For Russia, the current situation is worse than it was in the cold war era, political scientist and philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on May 12 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.

Before the defeat of the Soviet Union we were in a dangerous situation, but now our situation is even more dangerous. And it is worse than in the cold war era, Kurginyan believes.

He added that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov supports this idea.

Now Lavrov says that ‘again, as in the years of the cold war, we have approached a dangerous, and perhaps an even more dangerous line, Kurginyan notes.

The foreign minister, a highly experienced diplomat, a super-professional, says that we have approached a line that is even more dangerous than during the cold war! Kurginyan stressed.

We got what we fought for. What was alleged: ‘Now we will remove communism, we will destroy the USSR, we will destroy the Warsaw Pact, we will be alone, and we will become capitalist like anyone else, and this will guarantee peace. No cold war, no ideological conflict, and we all exist in a global world,’” the expert reminded.

He noted that the UN Security Council was formed “based on the victory of the counties of the coalition against the Nazis.”

The political scientist also reminded that the League of Nations existed before that, which later split.

It was a near-war situation, and no consensus could be observed any longer. Why could not it be observed before? Because of the reluctance to recognize the unevenness of development. In World War One, the British Empire could not admit that Germany was outpacing it. A war took place, and Germany was ruined, Kurginyan explained.
