Wagner assault squads liberated two city quarters on the northern and southern outskirts of Artemovsk, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing on April 15.
The Russian military thus liberated new territories from the Ukrainian armed units, which, in turn, deliberately and purposefully destroyed urban infrastructure and residential buildings while retreating, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The military commander explained that the destruction on the routes of their retreat was organized by the Ukrainian military in order to slow down the advance of the Russian troops.
Artemivsk [Bakhmut] is an important stronghold and transport hub of the Ukrainian armed units.
