Russian troops destroyed a column of Kiev fighters near the villages of Chasov Yar and Bogdanovka that was on its way to reinforce the Ukrainian troops in Artemovsk, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing in Moscow on April 12.
Konashenkov said that strikes by the Russian aviation, rocket forces and artillery fire of the Russian Federation’s Southern Group of Forces had hit the reserves of the Kiev armed units that were trying to break through from the villages of Chasov Yar and Bogdanovka to the city of Artemovsk.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev’s army lost three Grad MLRS systems, three howitzers, 14 armored vehicles and 245 servicemen in the Artemivsk direction during the day.
Konashenkov also said that Russian army assault squads took full control of three city quarters in Artemovsk, while Russian airborne units restricted the enemy’s actions on the flanks of the assault squads.
The city of Artemovsk, a large district center and stronghold of the Ukrainian armed units north of Gorlovka, was occupied by Kiev armed units in 2014.
