Russian Defense Ministry tests an intercontinental ballistic missile

The Strategic Missile Forces conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar test ground in the Astrakhan region, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service informed April 12.

It is noted that the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile of a mobile ground-based missile system was carried out on April 11 by a combat crew of the Strategic Missile Forces.

“The purpose of the launch was to test promising combat equipment for intercontinental ballistic missiles,” the statement reads.

The ministry specified that the launch made it possible to confirm the correctness of the design and technical solutions used in the development of new strategic missile systems.

It is also specified that the missile’s training warhead hit the target at the Sary-Shagan training ground in Kazakhstan with the specified accuracy, and the tasks were fulfilled.
