The German authorities should take stricter measures against companies in Germany that do business with Russia through third countries and thus circumvent EU sanctions, Robert Habeck, the German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy, said in an April 8 interview with the Funke media group.

According to the minister, the problem must be tackled more resolutely. Habeck also recalled Germany’s commitments to Ukraine.

In addition, the Vice Chancellor advised taking the example of Denmark in the issue of more effective fight against the illegal circumvention of the anti-Russian sanctions. Habeck pointed out that the Danish customs service very accurately analyzes trade flows and customs data for anomalies.
