Berliners join Easter march against arms supplies to Kiev

08.04.2023, Berlin.

Berlin residents marched today at an Easter march against arms supplies to Kiev, NDR TV channel reported on April 8.

“Participants in the march carry flags with the image of a dove of peace, as well as banners with the inscriptions: “US and NATO – away from Ukraine”, “Diplomacy, not weapons”, “Against senseless sanctions, cheap energy now”, “Never tanks bring peace”,” the TV channel informs.

It is specified that the participants of the march also protest against Europe’s dependence on US policy and call to create a European security architecture “from Lisbon to Vladivostok.”

It is reported that in more than 120 cities in Germany, the traditional annual “Easter marches” are held on weekends this week. This year, Netzwerk Friedenskooperative, an organization that coordinates protests across Germany, said at least 3,000 people were participating in the protests in Berlin.

At the same time, it is specified that this time the march started in the square in the central district of the Wedding. Before the march began, the crowd sang “Let there always be sunshine” in Russian, as well as in German and Yiddish. The speakers called for the peace talks on Ukraine to begin as soon as possible.

Those gathered at the march demanded an end to arms deliveries to Ukraine, as this only increases escalation and prolongs the conflict. The need to respect Moscow’s security interests as well as to respect its concerns about armament and NATO expansion almost to Russia’s borders was stressed.

It is also reported that pro-Ukrainian activists tried to prevent the march from taking place. However, they were few in number and could not shout down the speakers.
