Madrid will send six Leopard tanks to Kiev immediately after the Catholic Easter, the Spanish government announced on March 29, the newspaper Pais.
“Spain will send six Leopard A4 tanks to Ukraine immediately after Easter,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the repair of six Leopard A4 tanks has been completed. They are currently being tested at the testing ground in southern Spain.
It is indicated that after passing all inspections they will be delivered to Poland, from where they will be delivered to Ukraine.
The average cost per tank was €684,000.
Another four Leopard A4 tanks, which will also be transferred to Kiev, have been sent to the Seville plant, where they will be repaired. These vehicles have more serious defects, so their repair will cost the authorities more money.
In total, the Spanish government promised to deliver up to ten tanks to Ukraine.
