20.03.2023, Pyongyang.

North Korea should be ready to launch nuclear counterattacks at any time to prevent war, state leader Kim Jong Un said, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on March 20.

In his speech, the leader said the DPRK will be able to carry out the important strategic mission of deterring war and reliably protect the country’s sovereignty, peaceful life and the future of its people.

The tactical ballistic missile launched at Cholsan county, North Pyeongan province, traveled 800 kilometers and exploded 800 meters above the water surface of a conditional target in the East Sea of Korea.

National Defense Minister Kang Sun Nam, chief of all the country’s tactical nuclear operational units, and a number of commanders of missile units and units watched the launch. Members of the Party Central Committee, the leadership of the Main Missile Directorate, and personnel of the Nuclear Weapons Institute were also present at the test.

The country’s leader noted that the exercise would enable North Korean forces to be prepared for any surprise and to immediately launch a nuclear counterattack against the enemy if necessary.
