African countries understand that Russia’s special operation ensures independent policies

The special military operation is being waged for the countries will be able to pursue independent policies, and African countries understand this, said Mr. Nikolay Novichkov, a member of the Russian State Duma, RIA Novosti wrote on March 19.

“They understand very well what is happening in the world right now. They understand very well the goals of a special military operation,” Novichkov said of the representatives of African countries who have arrived in Moscow for the international parliamentary conference Russia-Africa.

According to the parliamentarian, the representatives of African countries understand that the conflict in Ukraine is not about “territory, not about influence in the world,” but “about the fact that the countries that want to pursue an independent policy pursue this policy.”

He also added that if Russia wins the confrontation with the West, African countries “will look at this process enthusiastically.”

According to Novikov, African countries are not sovereign at the moment, but they want to eliminate Western influence on their policies.

From March 19 to 20, the second international parliamentary conference Russia – Africa is taking place in Moscow. It was attended by representatives of science, education, expert community of Africa and Russia, deputies of State Duma, heads of executive authorities, senators, as well as representatives of legislative power and business.

In total, the conference is attended by representatives of more than forty countries of the African continent.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe Jacob Mudenda said that the countries of Africa understand that “Russia is not confronting Ukraine, Russia is confronting NATO.” Mudenda also praised the importance of the international parliamentary conference now taking place in Moscow. In his opinion, it will strengthen relations between Russia and Africa.
