The West is threatened with a nuclear strike by people who believed that Russia will be allowed to exist as a “normal” bourgeois country, and who are now experiencing a deep inner crisis in connection with the collapse of those hopes, said philosopher, analyst, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on the air of the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda, broadcasted on the YouTube channel on February 24.
The political scientist characterized the desire of part of the Soviet elite affiliated with the Soviet KGB to turn Russia into a “normal” bourgeois country as a “neurosis of normality.”
“Let’s become like everyone else, let’s stop building this idiotic communism, create a bourgeois system, create some kind of democracy, … enter there – with or without a soap – into this hole of Western civilization, and live like in paradise,” Kurginyan described this neurosis.
The understanding that the West does not treat Russia like other countries, that it has refused to accept it into its ranks, has led to the breaking of the “neurosis of normality,” Kurginyan noted.
“When this neurosis begins to break down, any internal crisis is possible. And it is exactly such a neurotic, who is incompatible with the greatness [of Russia] and who believed that this would be a ‘norm-r-r-ormal’ country, it is exactly such a neurotic, when he is disappointed, who can easily start yelling in super-patriotic language and talking about pushing the red button and launching nuclear missiles,” the analyst explained.
Deep psychological breakdown and shock experienced by figures who sincerely believe in the possibility of the existence of a “normal” Russia can be very dangerous, warned the philosopher.
As an illustration of the desires and possible actions of people with a broken “neurosis of normality,” Kurginyan cited words from his play “The Mole”. “We want to live normally, god damn it, normally, you understand, for this purpose we destroyed the Soviet madhouse, but if you ever touch us, beware: we have lived a beautiful life, and our death will be beautiful!”
The victims of the broken “neurosis of normality” do not comprehend reality, do not adapt to it, and do not work to save themselves and their country. Instead of this, Kurginyan warned, there are dangerous cries: “Now, let’s press on! And we don’t give a damn about the fuss, we won’t bother, won’t give it a try. Just press the button and to hell with all of this! And everything will be fine“.
