Germany again gives its tanks names that directly refer to German tanks from World War II, according to summaries from the war theater of the Essence of Time newspaper.
The newspaper quotes Armin Papperger, executive director of the Rheinmetall AG arms manufacturer, as saying that Ukraine will be supplied with the latest German tanks. At the beginning of February, he said that the concern was in talks with Kiev on deliveries of tanks. At the same time, the possibility of transferring Lynx and Panther tanks is under discussion.
“Until now, Germany has tried not to give its armored vehicles names that repeat the names of Hitler’s times. Now Lynx and Panther are a direct reference to the German tanks that really fought on the fields of World War II,” the Essence of Time‘s editorial reads .
