Russia has started serial production of the Chukavin sniper rifle, Alan Lushnikov, president of Concern Kalashnikov, said during the IDEX 2023 exhibition on February 21, TASS news agency reported.

The SVCh is being manufactured in the interests of the customer. The product’s design documentation has been assigned the “O1” letter for serial production,” Lushnikov said.

He added that the rifle successfully passed all State trials.

The new sniper rifle was developed in 2017 on the basis of the Kalashnikov Sniper Rifle, developed by the concern in 2016. The rifle is designed to defeat enemy manpower at short and medium ranges in general-purpose combat.

The design of the rifle allows the use of magazines from the currently used in the Russian Armed Forces Dragunov Sniper Rifle for 7.62 × 54 mm ammunition. The new rifle is also capable of using 7.62 × 51 mm ammunition. The rifle has improved fire accuracy and ergonomic body.
