Servicemen of the Wagner PMC broke through the defense built by the Ukrainian armed units during the fighting near the village of Berkhovka near Artemovsk (Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the Telegram channel Russkaya Vesna wrote on February 20.
“Assault groups wedged between Berkhovka and the rear of the Ukrainian armed units’ defense near Yagodnoye, cutting off the Ukrainian armed units’ retreat to Bakhmut (Artemovsk) from Berkhovka and Dubovo-Vasilyevka,” the report reads.
According to military correspondents, fierce fighting is underway in Berkhovka, Russian troops control the northern part of the village. A maneuver is being conducted to strike the enemy from the flank. The liberation of the village of Paraskoviyevka allowed the Wagner PMC units to take an important height, which overhangs the enemy’s positions.
It is reported that the breakthrough of the Ukrainian armed units’ defense is confirmed by the Telegram channels of the Ukrainian side.
On 18 February, the acting DPR head Denis Pushylin said that Russian troops had improved their positions near Artemovsk.
