Artificial intelligence (AI) is only capable of combining existing material, therefore, it has no potential for development, according to the Essence of Time newspaper’s reports from the war theater.
The newspaper reports on the first-ever case of using artificial intelligence to hand down a court verdict. Judge Juan Manuel Padilla of the Colombian city of Cartagena used an artificial intelligence bot ChatGPT in the ruling.
He said he is a proponent of AI and advocates using it as a tool to find better judgment. The judge said he used the bot to search for legal answers that would help him make his decision.
However, he stressed that he was not in favor of replacing judges’ decisions with texts written by AI.
“More and more examples like this appear every day, and it might seem that artificial intelligence will soon catch up with human intelligence. However, true creativity means creating something new out of nothing, while AI can only combine existing material in a more or less coherent way. Therefore, it has no potential for development,” reads the editorial comment of the Essence of Time newspaper.
