The Ukrainian fighters are retreating from occupied Soledar (DPR), trying to conceal their actions from neighboring Ukrainian units, official representative of the LPR People’s Militia Ivan Filiponenko said on January 9 on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
“In Soledar we note the mass flight of the enemy from the city,” he stressed. The main force in this area is the 61st separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army.
According to intelligence reports, the brigade commander, whose call sign is Lyzhnik, ordered the battalion commanders to organize the withdrawal of the surviving fighters from the city. The brigade wanted to make this escape covertly, but it was spotted by fighters from other units.
“Moreover, units of Polish mercenaries were left behind in Soledar too,” Philiponenko stressed.
On January 7, the LPR Interior Ministry reported that the Ukrainian army would soon retreat from Soledar.
