Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. The operation was preceded by an escalation of the conflict in Donbass by the Kiev regime, which forced the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics to request assistance from Russia in deterring aggression. First, on February 21, Russia recognized the LPR and DPR by concluding treaties of friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance with them. However, the Kiev regime did not stop punitive actions against the republics and continued to escalate the situation.
