Hungarian president: Ukraine crisis will last as long as US finances Kiev

24.12.2022, Budapest.

Washington’s financial and military assistance is prolonging the Ukrainian crisis, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said. Magyar Nemzet newspaper wrote on December 24.

According to Orban, there is a real danger of a protracted conflict, but the responsibility for the escalation lies with Washington.

“Ukraine can only fight as long as the US supports it with money and weapons. If the Americans want peace, there will be peace,” the Hungarian politician said.

According to Orban, Hungary is sticking to its interests, and despite reproaches from the West, it is not breaking off relations with Russia.

“It is not in our interests to give up all our economic relations with Russia. We look at these issues through the Hungarian lens, not through the prism of other countries [interests],” the Hungarian prime minister said.
