Slovakia is allowed to supply Ukraine with fuel produced from Russian oil

22.12.2022, Bratislava.

Slovak oil refinery Slovnaft was allowed to export fuel produced from Russian oil, acting Slovak Economy Minister Karel Hirman told reporters on December 21.

Hirman said that thanks to the work of the Ministry the European Union had agreed on an exemption for Slovnaft to export petroleum products. The refinery will now be able to supply fuel produced from Russian oil to Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

Hirman explained that without the exemption, Slovnaft would not have been able to export fuel produced from Russian oil starting from February 5, 2023.

Slovnaft uses almost entirely Russian oil for producing fuel. In 2023 the company plans to reduce its dependence on Russia to 60%.
