Indian ambassador points to potential of Turkey-India relations

The future of India-Turkey bilateral relations is optimistic and positive, with great potential, Indian Ambassador to Ankara Virander Paul told Anadolu on December 9.

He said that “through joint efforts and better understanding,” India and Turkey can do much and strengthen their partnership because the relations between the countries have a centuries-old history.

Paul expressed confidence that India and Turkey can do much together. “India is uniquely positioned in the Indo-Pacific region … As I said, it’s a large country with a big and fast-growing economy … The diversified strategic reach that India has, I think, increases the possibility of establishing closer and stronger ties with Turkey,” he said.

Paul said Turkey’s geographic location, Eurasian identity and Asian initiatives “open up new opportunities for closer cooperation” between India and Turkey, and a joint effort is needed to develop that relationship.

“I have no doubt that in the future, we will have a much stronger relationship in all aspects of life,” the ambassador said.
